5 Ways To Make Buyers Fall In Love With Your Home

Love is in the air, and making buyers fall in love with your home should be top priority! With a little elbow grease and a few packing boxes you can make their hearts go pitter-patter from the moment they pull in the driveway.
Here’s how to start the love affair:
First Impressions are everything, so make sure your yard creates an inviting feel. It only takes a few seconds for a buyer to decide if they want to buy a home based on how it looks on the outside. Make sure your lawn, trees, and flower beds are maintained; items, like trashcans, bikes, and gardening tools should be put away and make sure to sweep your steps and front porch. Flowers, wreaths and pretty front doors can also make your home feel welcoming, but be careful not to overdo it. Remember, less is more!
Make your home feel “homey.” There is something about walking into a warm home with the smell of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies in the air. Make buyers feel like they are at home by keeping your home at a comfortable temperature, setting out a treat, and leaving the lights on for them. Light a fire and place a comfy throw over the back of the sofa. But be sure to keep scents light as strong smells could deter some buyers.
Start packing. Why wait until you are under contract to pack up your home? Buyers want to connect with your home and picture themselves living there with their belongings. Start small by packing away family photos and items that are personal to you. Decluttering can also make your home look more attractive to buyers. Think, open, clean, fresh space and don’t forget about your closets, cabinets, and attic space!
Make your home sparkle! Bust out the yellow kitchen gloves and start scrubbing. Buyers will notice the dusty baseboards and dingy windows before you do so make sure you don’t ignore them. Having a clean home with appeal to buyers and will save you time when moving day comes along!
Don’t stick around. During showings don’t stay in your home, and be sure to remove pets as well. Buyers want to tour your house without feeling rushed or like someone is watching their every move. And as cute as Fluffy is, some people may be allergic or frightened by animals so be considerate and take Fluffy with you.
